Biobelt is a very experienced laboratory for analytical food microbiological testing. Our experiences have detected pathogens in food products that growers and suppliers were not even aware of, and helped identify and solve problems before they become out of control. Our insight in to microbial ecology has helped eliminate costly food processing expenses and streamline production processes. Our diligent testing has led to product recalls and criminal prosecution through RNA match ups. Our studies have provided a significant reduction in food testing expenses through thoughtful insight of microbial ecology for various food suppliers. This experience allows us to service the pharmaceutical, food production, academic and environmental quality industries in the following major areas:
- Quality control testing
- Pathogenic isolation, enumeration and identification
- Indicator and spoilage organisms
- Shelf life studies
- Product validation and challenge studies
- Sanitation and environmental audits
We can perform routine or non-routine testing of all kinds of foods, food related products and other consumer goods to determine if potential human pathogens are present, in what numbers and of what type, and If so, what can be done to eliminate the source of contamination or assess customer risk.
Each and every food can have its own unique conditions that will encourage or inhibit certain types of microbial growth. Our "Food Pathogen Screen" is a series of tests for clients with suspect food contamination issues or for quality assurance analysis before product release. In this analysis a series of different pathogens are tested for selectively based on the type food in question or the types of ingredients in the product that are known to routinely harbor distinct pathogens. This testing provides a direct and cost effective way to test suspect foods.
Testing Standards: Biobelt Laboratories utilized all of the established and recognized reference manuals and methods to satisfy the needs of its clients: USDA, BAM, AOAC, USP, APHA and ASTM.
Biobelt Laboratories tests for the following pathogens listed in the FDA's "Bad Bug Book" everyday as well as many others.
